Wanda L. Hamrick, 92, of Corning, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, on July 14, 2022, at 12:00 am.
Born October 4, 1929, in Corning, Ohio to Paul and Ora (McClintock) Leonard, Wanda was one of eleven children. A lifelong resident of Corning, Wanda graduated in 1947 from Corning High School. She retired from Southern Local Schools as the district office secretary. Wanda was very active and civic-minded, dedicating years of her life to community service. She was treasurer of the Corning-Monroe Civic Center, volunteered at the Southeastern Perry County Food Bank, and was an active member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. She was a devoted member of the Eastern Star Carnation Chapter #167 and a member of the Corning Aerie #463 Ladies Auxiliary.
Wanda enjoyed traveling with her Eastern Star sisters and especially her family. An avid Ohio State Fan, Wanda’s greatest joy in life was attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Surviving are her daughters Linda (Jim) Fisher and Patsy (Kenneth) Plant both of Corning; 5 grandchildren Lisa (Jim) Crawford, Jimmy (Sheri) Fisher, Lori (Chad) Markins, Kevin (Angela) Plant, and Angie (Ely) Collins; 16 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; brothers Jim and Jerry Leonard and sister Vera Janik.
Besides her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard (Dick) Hamrick Sr. in 1996; her son Richard Hamrick Jr. in 1970; brothers Paul and Bob Leonard, and sisters Dorothy Emrick, Marg Foehl, Martha Doughty, Juanita Hartley, and Betty Spinks, and brother and sisters-in-law Don and Betty Hamrick, John and Rosie Hamrick, & William and Patty (Hamrick) Beckett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday July 18, 2022, at the Bethany United Methodist Church, 159 Adams St. Corning Ohio,43730, with Rev Carolyn Hoskinson officiating. Interment: Zion Cemetery, Portersville.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 pm on Sunday July 17, 2022 at the Church., and from Noon until the time of the service on Monday.
O.E.S services will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday July 17, at the Bethany United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Corning-Monroe Civic Center or the Southeastern Perry County Food Bank.
