Vera May Rea-Janik 95 of Corning passed away at her home on Sunday February 26, 2023.
She was born May 6, 1927, in Corning, a daughter of the late Paul O. and Ora Mae McClintock Leonard.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was also incredibly proud of her work at Northrop Corporation, now known as Northrop Grumman in Hawthorn, CA. She built aircraft used by our armed forces and retired in 1985.
She is survived by her children Sharon (Gordon) Shaw, Michael (Maggie) Rea, Steven (Jami) Rea; her daughter in law Shannon Rea; her brothers Jim (Connie) Leonard and Jerry (Kathy) Leonard; her grandchildren David Rea, Kelly (Daniel) MacDonald, Katie (Bryce) Kesterson, Debbie (Rod) Paulson and Tim Owens; her great grandchildren Kelsi, Grayson, Kaylei, Sarah, and Eric.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband David Allen Rea in 1977 and her second husband Fred B. Janik in 2017; her siblings Paul (Mabel) Leonard, Marg (Glen) Foehl, Dorothy (Carl) Emerick, Bob (Maxine) Leonard, Betty (Clarence) Spinks, Wanda (Dick) Hamrick, Martha (Charles) Doughty and Juanita (Willard) Hartley.
Vera’s wishes were for cremation,
A memorial service will be held at 1pm at the Bethany United Methodist Church in Corning on Sunday March 12, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bethany United Methodist Church can be made in her name.
Her cremains will be laid to rest next to her husband David in California.
