Vera (Johnson) Canter

Vera Canter 80, of Shawnee passed away on Saturday November 11, 2023, at the New Lexington Care and Rehabilitation.

She was born on April 7,1943 in Shawnee, a daughter of the late John T Johnson and Goldie B (Ward) Johnson.

Vera was a former employee of ITT Higbie of New Lexington, a life member of the New Lexington Eagles, she loved her family, crocheting and country music.

  She is survived by husband Bill Canter, children, Sue (Pat Wohrle) Denny, Mary (Tony) Zimmerman, Bill (Joyce) Canter, Chuck (Stephanie) Canter, Chad Canter, and Linda Queen

 Besides her parents Vera was preceded in death by her sons, Jeff Canter, Lynn Canter, and infant Tommy Canter; her sisters, Hester Harper, Ruth Ellen Johnson; her brothers John Henry Johnson, Thomas Levi Johnson, and Burt Edward Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday November 15, 2023, at THE J.E. HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME 118 W. Walnut St. Shawnee, with Pastor Richard Fitch officiating.

Interment: Springer Cemetery, Hemlock

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m., on Tuesday November 14, 2023 at the funeral home.

The family and friends will gather at The SHAWNEE Masonic Lodge follow the burial service.
