Stanley Allen Obituary

Stanley E. Allen, 81, of New Lexington, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Born on July 5, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, Stanley was the son of the late Francis and Rosemary Huddleston Allen. He graduated from New Lexington High School in 1962, where he proudly played football under the legendary coach Jim Rockwell. Later that year, on November 5, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn “Diane” Seals.

Stanley worked as a coal miner for the Peabody Coal Company for 17 years, then held positions at General Mills and Lempco Industries. Throughout his career, he was a steadfast advocate for union rights and workplace protections, playing key roles in the labor organizations associated with his employers. He later worked for the Pike Township Garage for 14 years, operating heavy machinery and maintaining township roads until his retirement in 2005.

Stanley had a deep love for the outdoors—especially hunting and fishing—and enjoyed participating in tractor pulls and watching horse pulls. A lifelong learner with a curious mind, he was an avid player of Cryptoquote puzzles and enjoyed playing both the guitar and mandolin. Known for his patience, kindness, and quick wit, Stanley was a devoted family man whose children and grandchildren brought him immense pride—and felt the same about him in return. He is dearly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Diane Allen; daughter, Deborah (Gary) Boley of New Lexington; son, James (Diana) Allen of Crooksville; five granddaughters: Valerie (Kenny) Spencer of Corning, Melissa (Tracy) Nutter of New Lexington, Shyla (Nick) Hanson of Minneapolis, MN, Sarah (Kyle) Barnes of Somerset, and Staci Fox of Wilmington, OH; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers: Stephen Allen of Shawnee, Calvin Allen of New Lexington, and Clifford Dennis (Vicki) Allen of New Lexington; and one sister-in-law, Gloria Allen of New Lexington.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his son, Thomas E. Allen; brothers Bernard “Barney,” Robert “Bob,” Sam, and Richard; and sisters Sally Allen Pfeifer and Pauline Allen. Honoring Stanley's wishes private family services will be held.
