Rodney Earl Wesney Jr., 57, of New Lexington passed away on July 24, 2025 at the Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. He was born on July 27, 1967 in Zanesville, a son of Rodney E. and Doris (Dodson) Wesney Sr.
Earl was a former employee of Cooper Standard of New Lexington, where he served as a union representative. He was a member of both the Corning and New Lexington Eagles. Earl was a searcher and collector and a staunch supporter of PBR. He understood the importance of the land through his years of FFA and being a lifetime member of the Department of Natural Resources Division of Civilian Conservation (CCC). During the time spent at the Chatterbox, Earl formed many strong bonds and friendships. He also took a lot of pride in being an independent motorcycle rider and was a familiar friend of the New Lex Classic Riders.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his sisters Rhonda Wesney, Christina (Rodney) Bennett; nieces Erika (Joel) Bowles, LaChrista Bennett, Ayrie Bennett, Moira (Nakoma) Dodman, Olivia (Jason) Abram, Keiara (Dustin) Wesney, Ashley (Michael) Perez, Morgan Kaido, and Hannah Kaido; nephews Aaron Ansel, Rodney (Jackie) Bennett, Taylor (Kristen) Wesney, Logan (Tiffany) Wesney, Ashton Wesney, and Hunter Simpson; great nieces and nephews Izzy, Aanika, Nathan, McKenzie, Jacob Ray, Annalee, Rowan, Feyre, Auda, Axton, Ayan, Dominic, Xander, Brooklyn, Ashtun, Alexis, Landen, Karleigh, Khloe, Olivia, Connor, Dakota, Layah, and Adalynn; and many aunts; uncles; cousins; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Eric Wesney and Eren Wesney, and nephew Jacob Bennett.
Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 29 at the Shawnee Gymnasium in Shawnee, Ohio. Additionally they may visit 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM on July 30.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday, July 30 at 1:00 PM at the Shawnee Gymnasium. LaChrista Bennett will officiate the service.
