Obituary

Rodger D. “Doodad” Markin, 63, of Corning passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at The Cleveland Clinic.

He was born on February 20, 1960, in Athens, Ohio. Rodger was a son of the late Marion Don and Eva Jane (McColley) Markin.

Rodger was a former employee of Siemer Distributing and Lazy Acres Meats. He was famous for his "Rodgerisms". Rodger wasn’t a club-joining kind of guy. Instead he was a fisherman, hunter, and turtle catcher.

He is survived by his wife Vicki (McGrath); sons Shane (Amanda) Thress and Hendrix Renick; granddaughter Jeannette Thress; stepson Ian (Tori Peirce) Kern; grandson Kailas Kern; stepdaughter Chelisa Kern; brother Donald Markin; sister Lily (David) Oliver; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Rodger was preceded in death by his, grandson Tristan Armondo Lee Tufts Thress, sisters Carolyn Sue Grannon and Ima Jean Holland; brothers Glennis ‘Rink” Markin, Gary Markin, and Alva Markin.

Honoring Rodger’s wishes, cremation will take place and a gathering will be held in his memory at a later time.
