Richard Lee “Chevy/Honda Man” Wells, 73, of New Lexington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at his home on March 11, 2021. A beloved husband, father, and “papaw,” Richard will be missed by all that he touched in his life. A gentle man with a gentle heart, a more loved person cannot be found.
Richard was a renown shade tree mechanic and could bring any vehicle, especially his beloved 1953 Chevy 1/2-ton pick-up truck, back to its former glory. He had a passion for motorcycles and loved cruising the back roads on his Honda 125. Richard possessed a loving touch with animals, and could tame even the most wild (both animals and people...).
He was born on October 25, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio, a son of the late John Morse and Ethel (Tillis) Wells.
Richard was a supervisor for Arcaire and delivered for Lancaster Poultry, but he found the most joy in “running his routes.” He is survived by his wife of 52 years Gloria (Kennedy) Wells, daughters “Suzie” Wells-Doss, and Tracey S.M. Wells-Miller, grandchildren Angela Marie (O.J.) Bolin, Britney Miller, Amber Nicole Doss, Ashley Lynn (Nick Neff) Doss and Kyle Mathew (Kylie) Miller, great-grandchildren Ian, Riley, Luna, Keaton, Jaxon, Kenzlee, Ashton, Orrin, and Mia, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings Thomas Walter Wells, Hazel Azbell, John Henry Wells and Donald Wells.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March the 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the J.E. HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME 118 W. Walnut St. SHAWNEE Ohio, with the Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday March 19th and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
