Rhys Anthony Westenbarger

Rhys Anthony Westenbarger, 15, of New Lexington, passed away suddenly on July 4, 2026 at his home.

Rhys was born on September 22, 2010 in Lancaster, Ohio, the son of April R. Smith and Skyler A. Westenbarger.

Rhys was a brother to Kylie Smith, Jodi Westernbarger, and Lily Westenbarger; a grandson to Kerry Westenbarger, Christine Smith and Lisa Smith; a nephew to several aunts and uncles; a cousin; and a friend.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather’s Tony Westenbarger and Greg Smith.

Rhys was a student in the New Lexington School District and was looking forward to the start of his freshman year. He loved being outside cruising on his bike and was interested in anything with wheels and how they worked. He had a mind for putting things together, like Lego bricks, and enjoyed watching TV shows about house remodeling. Rhys recently started to find the joy of cooking. Rhys was a super sweet kid who was always willing to help in any way he could and would help anyone he could.
