Dave was born in Nelsonville, Ohio on April 3, 1961, to the late Calvin W. and Katie J. (Wolfe) Edgell.
He was a 1979 graduate of Nelsonville York High School. Dave attended Hocking College, worked at Superior Fibers in Bremen, and then at Hapcap as a custodian.
Dave met Jesus in 1983 and was called into ministry. He had one of the first radio broadcasts on WYAD Radio called “Outreach”. He pastored several local churches, but his love was Christian music. He founded Pittsburgh Hollow Community Church in 1991. He also formed the gospel group “Hosanna”. Dave played bass guitar for The Masters Voice of Delaware, Ohio where he performed in several southern states. He appeared at the Ohio State Fair, was on TV 39 in Marion, Ohio, at WDLR in Delaware, Ohio, on “The Gospel Park” in Hartford, North Carolina to name a few.
In his later years, he was a junkman where folks would watch him clean TV’s and peel wires with a utility knife. Dave was a Mountain Dew drinker. Most of the folks who knew him would tell you he always had one in his hand.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra R. (Begley) Edgell; two sons and daughters-in-law David (Brandy) Edgell of Logan, Joseph A (Maranda) Edgell of Nelsonville; one granddaughter Lauren; two grandsons Levi and Wyatt; one brother Terry E (Diora) Edgell of Rockbridge, Ohio; and his dog Bridget.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Gary Edgell, and sisters-in-law Sina Edgell and Glenda Edgell. His dog Luke
Calling will be Tuesday, March 31 from 6:00-8:00 PM and Wednesday from 11am-1pm at the New Straitsville United Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1 at 1:00 PM at the church.
Interment: Beech Grove Cemetery in Perry County.
