Paul Barnes Obituary

Paul H. “Butch” Barnes Sr. 83 of McCuneville passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday March 10TH 2026.

He was born on April 28, 1942, in Rural New Lexington, Ohio, a son of the late Elbert W. and Julia (Balind) Barnes.

Paul retired from Cooper Standard in New Lexington, and was a former employee of GNB Battery of Zanesville, he also was a former E.M.T. for Shawnee Fire Department. He was a member the New Straitsville Methodist church, the Sunshine Club, The Shawnee Masonic Lodge 526 F&A.M. and The Bluebell Chapter 151 O.E.S.

He had a passion for working on antique clocks, tinkering in the yard or out riding in his buggy. Paul loved sitting in his chair watching the birds, but more than anything he loved being a Grandpa and GGPa.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Anna L. (Colvin) Barnes his wife for 65 years. Children, Linda (Brian) McIntosh, Paul (Connie) Barnes and Lori (Jason) Smith. Grandchildren, Cori (Adam) Strickland, Nicholas (Kelly) Barnes, Nicole (Tyler) McKee, Zach McIntosh, Jessica (Jordan) Walsh, Jordan (Ashly) Rutter, Paul (Mariah) Barnes, Brittnay (John) Walter, Brandon (Anna) Alfman, Great- grandchildren, Airel (Kyndal), Jocelynn, Vivian, Kellyn, Kendyl, Westyn, Benjamin, Onyx, Margot Ka'Mya, Maleah and A'Niiyah. Sisters, Barbara Sue Toney, Elsie Thomas, Neva Decore, and Gloria Finck. Sister -in-law Mary Barnes. Brother – in -laws, Tom (Alisha) Colvin and Dan (Donna) Colvin, Special friends, Johnny and Candy Trovato, and several nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Besides his parents Butch was preceded in death by his In- laws, George Colvin and Bess Colvin. Siblings and in-laws, Mary Ann and Richard Reed, Bill and Mary Lou Barnes, George Barnes, George and Garnet Colvin, Fred Colvin and Don Finck and granddaughter Cari Lynn McIntosh.

Services will on Friday March 13, 2026, at the New Straitsville Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m. beginning with Masonic services, followed by Eastern Star and Funeral services.

Funeral services will be conducted by Brother Thomas Iwanusa. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the start of services at the church.

Cremation will take place. Following services. Memorial contributions can be made in Paul’s name to the New Straitsville Methodist Church P.O. Box 7 New Straitsville Ohio 43766, or the SHAWNEE Masonic Lodge P.O. Box 142 SHAWNEE Ohio 43782.
