Mary Lou Barnes 85 of Crooksville, formerly of Shawnee, was reunited with her husband, James William “Bill” Barnes, Monday September 18, 2023, at The Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville.
She was born April 15, 1938, in Shawnee and is the daughter of the late Dick and Avonelle Cook Slatzer. Mary Lou was a homemaker, hunter, and loved animals, especially her dogs.
She is survived by her daughters Julie (Bob) Davis, Jill Swingle (Donnie Knight), and Susan (Kurt) Miller, six grandchildren Amanda Swain (William Pettigrew), Tyler, Jacob, Shannon, Hayden, and Logan, great-grandchildren Nevaeh Hartshorn Zara and, Avein Freeman, and Baby Freeman on the way, several in-laws, nieces and nephews, two special friends (Butch and Lori), two dogs (Chloe and Pixie), and the neighborhood cats.
Besides her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband of nearly 66 years Bill Barnes; her son Michael “Bill” Barnes, and her brother Larry Slatzer.
