Margaret A. "Peggy" McGruder

Margaret Ann “ Peggy” ( Burns) McGruder 87, passed away peacefully on Friday September 9, 2022. She was born in SHAWNEE Ohio to the late Lawrence D. and Bernice M Burns.

Peggy graduated from SHAWNEE High School in 1953 and started her career as a telephone operator at what was then Ohio Bell Telephone Company (Later know as AT&T) in Columbus, Ohio.

She was employed there for 40 years until her retirement in 1993. After her retirement she spent many years as a volunteer in various places. Her favorite volunteer position was at Binn Elementary school where she was named volunteer of the year in 2009.

She attended SHAWNEE United Methodist Church as a child and became a member there.

Peggy is survived by her children, James R ( Dornee) McGruder of Grove City and Christopher R McGruder of Columbus; her brother Rick Burns of Bremen, her two sisters, Marsha ( Ron) Hinton of Reynoldsburg and Connie Burns of Canal Winchester sister in law Ruth Ann Burns,: grandchildren Brad ( Juile), Nick( Luncinda) Justin ( Brittany) Christopher ( Victoria), Adam( Marissa) and Casey, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister in laws, Lawrence D “ Buddy” and Carolyn Burns, Robert E. “ Bob” and Virginia Burns and John William “ Bill” Burns; sister Elaine Burns- Higgins and Grandson Corey McGruder.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Canal Winchester Rehabilitation & Assisted Living, especially Nurse aid, Dawn Reynolds.

Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon on Monday September 12^th 2022 at the SHAWNEE United Methodist Church 317 East Walnut St. SHAWNEE Ohio 43782

The family will receive visitors from 6-8P.M. at the church on Sunday September 11^th, and from 10 A.M. to Noon on Monday Prior to the service. Interment SHAWNEE Cemetery.
