Leslie G. Ward (Dad) 73 of New Straitsville passed away Friday January 17, 2025. He was born May 9, 1951, in Zanesville, to the late Jefferson J. and Clalee G. Morris Ward. He was a 1969 graduate of Miller High School and retired from Superior Fibers of Shawnee.
Dad lived a life of service. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Viet-Nam War veteran obtaining a rank of Corporal and earning several commendation medals. Later he went on to become a proud and longtime member of the New Straitsville Masonic Lodge # 484 F&AM and was an honorary member of Shawnee Masonic Lodge # 526 F&AM.
His most cherished title was that of dad and grandpa. He is survived by his daughters Candy Shoemaker, Kimberly (David) Crites and Crystal Ward; his grandchildren Brittany (Kyle) Graham, Justin McAlpine, Chandler (Megan) McAlpine, Madison Shoemaker, Gage Day, Cameron Shoemaker, Jacob Shoemaker, Sidney Shoemaker, Payten Crites, Raegan Crites, Ryder Crites and his only great grandchild, Penelope Graham.
He is also survived by his sisters Linda Strohl, Elaine Wesney and Rose Mary Ward; many other extended family and a multitude of friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Bill Ward and his sister Marsha K. Ward.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday January 23, 2025 at The New Lexington Main Street Church of CHRIST, Where funeral services will be held at 5 p.m.
Cremation will follow and Les will be intereded in SHAWNEE Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Straitsville Masconic Lodge 526 F&AM.
