Leo A. Altier 88, of Corning Ohio, passed away on Monday May 1, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his devoted family.
He was born November 8, 1934, in Pleasant Township, a son of the late John F and Mary G. (Flautt) Altier.
Known as “Uncle Leo” in the gas and oil fields, he was past president of Althiers Oil and Altier Brothers. Leo served his community of Corning both as Mayor and a Village Council Member; he was a long time Trustee of the Bank of Corning; he was a honorary Trustee and Hall of fame member of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association and was a member of member of the SEOGA and the Corning Eagles Aries 463.
Leo is survived by his wife of 68 years Ann (Raub) Altier. His children, Cinda Lee Frasure, Gregory Wayne (Shana) Altier, Gary Michael Altier, Christopher Eric (Cindy) Altier, and Patrick William Altier; his brothers and sisters, Christine Altier, William (Suzie) Altier, and Pamela Compston; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and extended grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents Leo was preceded in death by two sons Anthony Scott Altier, and Brent Matthew Altier, daughter in laws, Cheryl Dee (Alfman) Altier and Brenda Kay (Tucker) Altier; his siblings Louis Altier, Donald Altier, John Altier, Paul Altier and Mary Ann Flowers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1: 00 P.M. on Friday May 5, 2023, at St Bernard Catholic Church Corning, with Father Todd Lehigh Celebrant.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Corning.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 P.M. on Thursday May 4, 2023, and 11a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday at the church.
Eagles service will be held at 7 P.M. on Thursday at the Church, and Prayer Services will follow at 7:45 P.M
