Larry Ray Jones, 75, of Hopewell, formerly of Shawnee passed away at his home on Tuesday January 17, 2023.
He was born April 16, 1947, in Shawnee, the son of the late Raymond and Irene Coates Jones.
After graduating Miller High School in 1965, Larry was employed by Rockwell of Newark as a Machinist and Union Steward for U.A.W. Local 1037. After 36 years of service, Larry retired from Rockwell. He was a former member and longtime Chief for the Shawnee Fire Department. Larry went on to enjoy his time as a courier for North Valley Bank where his outgoing personality helped him make many new friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and a builder and fixer of many things. He took delight in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and various activities. He often attended the Ohio High School football and basketball championships. Through the years he was a loyal Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeye fan.
He is survived by his wife Pat Wiseman Jones; his children David (Beverly) Jones, Cynnde (Donna) Jones, Denise Jones, Eddie (Misti) Wiseman, Shawn Wiseman, and Misty Andrews; his brothers Gary (Patricia) Jones and Carl (Betty) Jones; grandchildren Alexis Wiseman, Haley Andrews, Emily Jones, and Sam Wiseman. He is also survived by his furry family, Luke, Luci, Mr. Peepers, and Pebbles, all of who he adored.
Friends may call from 4-8 pm on Friday January 20, 2023, at the JE. Humphrey Funeral Home on 118 Walnut St, Shawnee, Ohio. Friends may also call on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 12-2 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial service will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Richard Newlon officiating.
Following the service, cremation will take place.
Larry will be laid to rest with his parents at Shawnee Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriver’s Hospice or the Shawnee Little League Baseball program
