Kathleen Ann (Cassell) Odenwald, 68; mother to Jaime (Timothy) Humphrey, Maggie (Jay) Durst, Dan (Rebecca) Odenwald, and Kathryn (Galen) Hawes, passed away on July 7, 2023, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Elizabeth Cassell, and her husband and love of her life Michael.
Kathi was blessed to have 17 grandchildren: Hallie (Danny), Mairenn, Ava (Andrew), Rory, Bailey, Brandon, Anthony, Haley, Michael, John, Patrick, Jack, Joe, Emma, Rian, Helena, and Hera. She also had 6 great-grandchildren: Hadley, Noah, Sam, Elliot, Jax, and Marley. Loving sisters who were her lifelong best friends, Kimberly (Don) Wagner and Karen (Frank) Carr. Adoring big brother Stephen Cassell. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was adored by her family and was an incredibly kind, thoughtful, and generous woman.
Formerly of Westerville, she spent the last year of her life in Shawnee, Ohio where it was commonplace to find her enjoying her front porch at all hours, either admiring her flowers or watching the countless fireflies light up the night. When not on her porch, it was safe to bet she was either watching her Buckeyes or Bluejackets, or perhaps snagging the next great invention on HSN. Rumor has it there is still another package on its way containing a gadget that peels potatoes and shines your tires!
Anna Maria Island in Florida was her home away from home and she loved to spend time at the beach soaking up the sun and enjoying the relaxation the island life provided.
It is fitting that her family got to spend one more 4th of July with her. It was her favorite holiday, and we will cherish the last one we had together.
