John Edward Toth

 John Toth (December 5, 1931 - October 24, 2023)

 John Toth, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 24, 2023, at the age of 91. 

 John was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 72 years, Beatrice Toth. Born on December 5, 1931, in Hemlock, Ohio, John was the son of the late John and Winnifred (Call) Toth.

 He attended school in Shawnee, where he left a lasting mark on the community, especially with his athletic talents in basketball.  John earned three varsity letters and was a unanimous selection for the all-county team while playing in one of the strongest county basketball leagues in the state.  In the 1949-1950 season, John was the leading scorer in Perry County, scoring an amazing 478 points. For over three decades, John dedicated his life to his work as a machinist at Lempco, where his knowledge and skills made him an invaluable member of the team. His colleagues and superiors respected him not only for his knowledge, but also for his integrity and work ethic.

 John Toth is survived by his five children, John (Tami) Toth, Terri (Dave) Sharp, Mary (Jim) Cook, Jay Toth, and Jim (Amy) Toth. He was a loving and proud father, and his children cherished the wisdom and guidance he provided throughout their lives. John also leaves behind a legacy of family with his six grandchildren, Jessica McCord, Jeremiah Toth, Kory Cook, Travis Cook, Lance Sharp, and Kaley Sinift, and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition, John leaves behind his faithful dog Ruby, who was near and dear to his heart. 

 Funeral services to celebrate John Toth's life will be held at the J.E. HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME   Per John’s wishes, the funeral service will be for immediate family only.

Interment: Shawnee Cemetery 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pickering House 282 Sells Road Lancaster, Oh 43130, in John's name to honor his memory and the causes he held dear.
