John H. Nutter Jr.
February 18, 1941 to January 27, 2023
John H. Nutter, Jr., 81, of New Straitsville, Ohio passed away with his loving family by his side on Friday, January 27, 2023. John was the oldest son of the late Betty Alberta (Hamer) and John H. Nutter, Sr.
John married the love of his life, Pamela F. (Dunkle) Nutter in 1962. He lost Pam in December 2017. Together they had three children, John Curtis “Curt” Nutter of Liberty Township, Ohio, Cindy Elaine (Chris) Altier of Corning and Cherie Ellen (Brett) Irwin of Glouster. John was proud of his four grandchildren, Leslie (Steve) Lucas of Shawnee, Brittany (Rob) Throckmorton of Rushville, Kyle (Amy) Nutter of Fairfield and Zachary (Abby Lampe) Nutter of Hamilton; and his three great-grandchildren Olivia “Livi” Lucas, Colt Throckmorton and Faye Throckmorton who brought “Papa John” much joy.
In addition to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, John is survived by sister Sharon Harris of Loudon Tennessee, brother Harry (Pam) Nutter of Glouster, Ohio, sister-in-law Buna Nutter of Corning, brothers-in-law Tim (Connie) Dunkle of St. Louis, MO, and Bob (Cindy) Dunkle of New Lexington, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by parents John Sr. and Alberta, his father and mother-in-law Warren and Connie Dunkle, his loving wife Pam, brother Paul Nutter, brother-in-law Ron Harris and daughter-in-law Vickie Nutter.
John worked for years at the Nutter Brother Coal Company. Later, he joined the Hocking County Engineers Office in Logan where he met many great friends.
John had a talent with street rods, and old Ford trucks, bringing many to life over the years. He and Pam drove many miles around the country in them, gaining many wonderful friends along the way.
Calling hours will be at the J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home in Shawnee, Ohio on Sunday, January 29, 2023, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM, and his funeral will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 30, 2023, at the funeral home, with Rev Carolyn Hoskinson officiating.
John will be laid to rest beside Pam in the New Straitsville Cemetery.
