John Joseph “Joe” Dawson, 67 of Logan, Ohio passed away October 23, 2023 at the OSU Medical Center. Joe was born on August 9, 1956 to Jack and Rita (Charette) Dawson in Painsville, Ohio.
Joe was married to Genevia (Smith) Dawson who survives.
He was a member of The Refuge of Nelsonville Church. He graduated from Miller High School in 1974 and Tri-County Vocational School with 2 years of welding.
Joe worked for Sunnyhill Peabody Coal Mine for 13 years.
Wolsky Stair Factory, making special stairs for 10 years. He retired from Anchor Hocking Plant after 23 years.
Joe enjoyed hunting deer and squirrels and he loved his dogs.
Joe is survived by his wife Genevia (Smith) Dawson of 46 years. His nieces Nancy, Terry, Melissa, Colleen and nephews Kelly, BJ, Dale and special friends Larry, Dick, and Dave.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his In-laws Pearley and Delcia Smith, sisters Diana (Dale) Gibbs, and Jackie (John) Davis.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday October 28, 2023 at the J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home 118 W. Walnut Street, Shawnee, with Rev. Pat Mayle officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.
Friends may call from 3-8 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
