John Clay 35 of Shawnee, Ohio passed away on Monday January 22, 2024, at the Genesis Perry County Medical Center.
Born March 19, 1988, in Zanesville, Ohio.
John loved his family and especially his three beautiful children, Nevaeh Prater, Mason Clay, and Liam Clay; John was always outdoors, fishing, hunting, or walking around in the hot summer days (shirtless) getting his tan on. John was always the life of the party and made everyone laugh until their cheeks hurt. He knew how to have fun and would pull pranks on anyone.
Besides his children he is survived by his mother Carla Hook and his grandmother Carolyn Hook Hammer both of Shawnee; his two sisters Brandy (Sam) Williams of Shawnee and Tiffany (Jim) Kimble of New Lexington; two nephews Jeremy Denny and Jake (Brittany) Denny; nieces Rachel (Tim) Williams, Rachelle Kimble, and Zoey Kimble; one great niece Blair Denny; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Carl Hook Sr.; his father Jack “Happy” Gilman; his uncle Gary Hedges Sr. and his cousin Kaden Hook.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday January 27, 2024, at the J.E. Humphrey funeral Home, Shawnee, following services cremation will take place.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Friday January 26, 2024, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to assist the family with funeral cost.
