Jeffrey 'Jeff" Kiener Obituary

Jeffrey Lee Kiener 78 of Westerville passed away on April 28, 2021 at The Ohio State University Hospital. Jeff was born on February 5 1943 in Columbus Ohio a son of the late Robert L. “Bob” and Betty June (Clark) Kiener.

Jeff worked for the C&O Railroad (CSX) for 37 years, starting at the age of 18 as a brakeman, working his way up to conductor.

He was a proud alumnus of Bishop Hartley High School in Columbus and graduated in Hartley’s first class in 1961. He loved school and made many lifelong friends. Jeff was dedicated to organizing his class reunion every five years, and always looked forward to getting together with friends to plan each one.

Jeff was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, father-in-law, and husband. He was a proud grandfather of 13 grandkids and 2 great grandkids. Along with Terri, the love of his life, he made many unforgettable memories with his grandchildren like jumping in the leaves each fall, holding them on his lap while letting them drive his riding mower when they were little, and taking them to the Columbus Zoo.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents Leo and Madge Kiener; special grandmother Pansy “Mom” Hines; brother Tony Kiener; stepson Chris Harding; and special aunt Sis Hines.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 35 years, Terri Kiener; children Dr. Jeffrey (Dede) Kiener, Sean (Allison) Kiener, Heidi Funderburk, and Jennifer (Eric) Motter; grandchildren David, Jonathan, Anna, Prudence, Trixie, Nate, Tayler, Dominic and Nina; sister-in-law Marcia Isbell; stepson Rob (Lisa) Harding; step-grandchildren David, Tarah, Staci and Tesla; step-great-grandchildren Maylin and Violet; siblings Jim (Janet) Kiener, Judy Kiener, Bobbi (Roger) Flores, and Paul Kiener; special aunt Mary Jo Leonard; and many, many, cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 3-6 P.M. on Monday May 3rd at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home Central Chapel 403 E. Broad St. Columbus, OH 43215, where Prayer Services will be conducted at 3pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M on Tuesday May 4, 2021 at St Matthews Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Road Gahanna, Oh 43230, with Father Ted Sill Celebrant. Per Jeff's wishes follow services cremation will take place.
