Jean Ann Ferguson, 85, of Corning

Jean Ann Ferguson, 85, of Corning, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at The Morrison House Genesis Hospice of Zanesville, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on March 24, 1940, in Corning, Jean was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Williams) Spray. She began her career working for Dr. Kramer in Corning, and later devoted 41 years of service to the Bank of Corning, playing an instrumental role in its transition to North Valley Bank until her retirement. Jean was deeply involved in her community as a respected member of the Eastern Stars, the Corning Senior Center, and the Corning School Alumni Association.

Jean’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication touched the lives of many. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose family was the center of her world.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Jeff (Holly) Ferguson; daughter, Sandy Dorsey; grandchildren, Bryan (Jessica) Dorsey, Elizabeth (Kirk) Kiefer, Sarah (Adam) Bragg, and Adam (Ashley) Ferguson; great-grandchildren Bryce, Bodey, Alyssa, Addison, Alex, Aric, and one on the way. She also leaves her brother, Tom (Martha) Spray; brother-in-law, Francis Pompey; dear friend, Harold Keller; along with many nieces and nephews who treasured her presence.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Herman Ferguson; sister, Rita Pompey; granddaughter, Jennifer Dorsey; and son-in-law, Thomas Dorsey.

A Vigil Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Corning. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at The Humphreys Funeral Home in Shawnee and 10:00A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at St. Bernard Catholic Church. 

Jean’s gentle spirit, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
