Janice Joy Tokie, 86, lifelong resident of Shawnee, Ohio passed away February 15, 2024 at Fairfield Medical Center. She was born in Shawnee on November 9, 1937 to the late Angus Douglas MacEachen and Edna Ruth Reed MacEachen. Janice was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Corning, Ohio.
Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband William (Bill) Gilbert Tokie and her son, John (Johnny) Patrick Tokie; sisters, Shirley Griggs and Nancy Lepley; and her in-laws Bill (Laverne Abbott) Tokie.
She is survived by her children, Danny (Anita) Tokie, Leah (Roger) Brunton, Andy Tokie, daughter-in-law Noelle Tokie, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her baby sister Betty Martin, many nieces and nephews and special friends Linda Poling and Pee Wee Smith.
Janice loved people and pets and would do anything for anybody. She worked several years at the newly opened Burr Oak Lodge where she made many lifelong friends. Jan cooked for the “Meals on Wheels” program in Perry County, then spent the remainder of her working life providing gentle, loving care as a nursing assistant to patients residing in nursing facilities in her community. She was an exceptional caregiver.
