James "Jimmy" Cook II Obituary

James E Cook "Cookie" 64, of New Lexington passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 13th, 2025, from complications of a stroke.  Jim was born June 27th, 1960, in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Jame E Cook Sr. and Mary T (Sagace) Cook.

                Jim was a 1978 graduate of Miller High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Mary.  They were married on June 23rd, 1984.  He attended Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio where he obtained a degree in accounting.  He worked many years as a service manager for several dealerships throughout his career.  For the past 10 years he has worked as a substitute for the Muskingum Valley Educational Center.  He refereed/umpired youth sports for 30 plus years.  His true passion for sports was shown throughout his forty-one years of coaching youth sports, with his love of football being at the forefront.  He made an impact in the lives of young men and wasn't afraid to hold them accountable and tell them the truth.  He showed his love through tough coaching.  He coached 7th and 8th grade football for the last fifteen years.  Jim was an avid Steelers and West Virgina Football fan.

                Jim is survived by his wife Mary (Toth) Cook; sons, Kory and Brooke Cook, and Travis Cook; grandchildren- Benson, Kassadee, Bowen and Kambree Cook; Brother Chad and Karie Cook; niece Ellie, nephews Evan and Jack Cook; Aunt Shirley; brothers-in-laws John Micheal( Tami) Toth, Jay Toth and Jim (Amy) Toth sister- in- law Teri( Dave  ) Sharp  Nieces and Nephews Jessica McCord, Jeremiah Toth, Lance Sharp and Kaley Sinift and many other loving family members.

                Calling hours will be held from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM with funeral service officiated by nephew Jeremiah Toth at 11:00 AM on Friday April 18th at New Lexington High School.  Private family burial later.  Lunch to follow at 215 E Broadway St New Lexington, OH, Cornerstone Baptist Church.  The family would like to thank Echo Hospice Services and J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home.
