Jack D. "JD" Gaddis, 91, of New Lexington passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at The Pickering House of FairHope Hospice in Lancaster. JD was born on November 4, 1934 in New Lexington. He was the oldest son of the late Jack and Eleanor (Thacker) Gaddis. JD was a retired employee of Rockwell of Newark. He was also a former employee of ClayCraft of Shawnee and Fishel Construction. He was a 50 year plus member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge 526 F&A.M., a 25-year member of the Shawnee O.E.S. Bluebell Chapter 151, and a member of the New Lexington Masonic Lodge 250. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing on Lake Erie, making and shooting muzzle loaders, and was a skilled woodworker. JD is survived by his wife of 72 years Shirley (Marquis) Gaddis; daughters Cheryl (David) Marshall, and Carla Gaddis; son David (Ginger) Gaddis; 7 grandchildren;14 great grandchildren; 1 great -great grandchild; and nieces Cindy Dew and Tammy Corp. Besides his parents, JD was preceded in death by his son Mike Gaddis; brothers and their wives Gary and Eileen Gaddis, and Dale and Shirley Gaddis; and aunt Twila Thacker. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at THE J.E. HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME, 118 W.Walnut St., SHAWNEE. Friends may call from 5-7 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 and from 11 A.M. until the time of the service on Thursday.
