Faye Elaine (Sands) Craig

Faye Elaine Sands Craig 78 of New Lexington passed away Monday March 6, 2023, at Altercare of Somerset.

She was born May 2, 1944, in Elyria, Ohio, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Lorraine Cronin Sands.

Elaine was married to her partner for life the late Richard “Dick” Craig Sr.; Elaine and Dick raised a family together and started and ran Craig’s Towing of New Lexington for 34 years together until Dick’s death in 2001, Elaine continued to run the business until her retirement in 2011. After retirement Elaine enjoyed traveling with her family; Elaine’s favorite thing to do was going to church at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in New Lexington; she was a bright light and witness to everyone she met; she was funny and caring and enjoyed sending pick me up cards to anyone that needed them.

She is survived by her children Richard (Cindy) Craig of New Lexington, Deborah (Jim) Day of Shadyside and David Craig of New Lexington; her sister Charlotte Jones of Canton; her brother Jan (Judy) Sands of Chillicothe; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather Cecil Wilson; her brother Robert “Bob” Sands and her daughter in law Stacy Craig.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. on Friday March 10, 2023, at the New Lexington First United Methodist Church with Rev. Deborah Nance officiating.

Interment: Maplewood Cemetery, New Lexington.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Thursday at the J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home, 118 W. Walnut Street, Shawnee and from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Friday at the church.

Family and friends are invited to the Cornerstone Baptist Church 215 E Broadway St New Lexington. Following the funeral services to share in food and fellowship.
