Edward Neil Nye Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward N. Nye, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and uncle. Ed leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and courage. His love and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his fierce love for family; his love of hosting and cooking; his generous service to his community; and his infectious spirit of adventure.   

Ed is survived by Barbara (nee Kirchner), his wife of 45 years; his children Andrew (Laura), Meghan (Zach) Kubrin, Benjamin, and Jimmy; his beloved grandchildren Jackson, Eleanor, Edilia, and Josephine. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Ann, his father Edward, Sr., his brother Paul, and his sister Debra. 

After being raised in New Straitsville, Ed moved to northeast Ohio where he raised his family and worked in the family pest control businss. He traveled the world with his family, enjoying Africa, the Abacos, Ireland, and a majority of the United States. Nothing made Ed happier then spending time with friends, family, and his grand babies. 

Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Ed’s memory at an open house Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 6, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at LaMalfa Party Center, 5783 Heisley Road, Mentor, Ohio. Remarks will begin at 1:00 p.m. 

This gathering will provide an opportunity for all who knew Ed to come together for food and fellowship where we can share stories, honor his memory, and celebrate a life well-lived. In that vein, we ask that you forgo traditional funeral colors and wear vibrant, cheerful attire as a reflection of Ed’s joy-filled life.
