David Arthur Severance Sr.

David Arthur Severance Sr. 77 of New Straitsville passed away Monday October 14, 2024, at his home.

He was born July 23, 1947, in Stone Church Hollow, a son of the late Lewis H. and Thelma G. Kappes Severance.

David was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran; He loved his children and his cats. He never met a stranger and enjoyed a good campfire and the other simple pleasures of life.

He is survived by his wife Zelma Pittman Severance; his children Danny Severance, Michelle (Thomas) Nixon; and Darrell (Tiffany) Severance his grandchildren Victoria (Ronald) Barton, Chelsey Severance and Thomas Nixon Jr.; great-grandchildren Kelsi Severance and Ronald Barton Jr; his siblings Marjorie Huffman, Luetta “Cookie” (Ed) Mirabile, and Roger (Myra) Severance; brother and sister in laws Vilora Severance, and Elmer Frasure; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son David A. Severance Jr.; grandson Danny Blake Severance; his brothers John, James, Richard, Danny, Billy, and Robert Severance; his sisters Rosalee Severance and Thelma “Sis” Frasure; his in laws Ray Huffman, Beverly Severance, Pearl Severance., Louise Severance, and Carolyn Severance

Per David’s wishes, cremation will take place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
