David Warren Lanning

David Warren Lanning Sr. 69 of New Lexington, Ohio went to his final resting place after a brief illness.

Dave was born April 3, 1956 in Logan, Ohio and was a blessing to his parents, Wilbur and Judy Lanning. His family also included his brother Phil and sister Sally, both of Logan.

In 1973 Dave met the love of his life Cathy and the two were married in 1974. They had two children, David (Amy) Lanning Jr. and Lacie (Mike) Tolliver. Two granddaughters Hannah (Hunter) Sunkle and Skylar Whaley-Lanning; soon to be great grandson Riggs Sunkle; nieces Bonnie, Linda and Emily; nephews Robert and Richard; very special honorary family member Sammi Kerr, in 2018 Sammi donated one of her kidneys to save Dave’s life.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Judy Lanning; father and mother-in-law Ed and Janet O’Nail and his sister Westina Stiverson.

Dave was a retired truck driver, spending many years and logging many miles seeing the country. He was the winner of numerous awards while driving and was the only driver to ever drive an entire truck rodeo course entirely in reverse!

Most people that met Dave will tell you a funny story about him. Some will tell you about a time that he went out of his way to help them. All will tell you that he was a good man. None will tell you a bad thing about him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Tuesday January 20, 2026 at the Grace Community Church of the Nazarene 7945 Tunnel Hill Rd. New Lexington, OH 43764 with Rev Jeff Gilkerson officiating.

Interment: New Lexington Cemetery

Friends may call from 3-8 pm on Monday January 19, 2026 at the church.
