Jackie Rine Obituary

JACKIE LEE RINE, 65, of Corning, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, in Lancaster, Ohio.

He was born to parents, Arthur Lee Rine and Shirley Louise Shoults Rine, in May 6, 1954, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Known to many as Jack, he graduated from Knox County JVS, Auto Mechanics Program in Mt. Vernon, Ohio in 1972.

After graduating, Jack moved to Perry County, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Debra Ann Dodson. They married on June 2, 1973 and had two children whom they loved dearly: Jackie Lynn & William (Billy) Joseph.

Jack is survived but his loving daughter, Jackie Walsh and her husband John and grandchildren: Tyler Rine, Emily Walsh, Nicholas Rine, Chloe Rine, Haley Walsh, Katelyn Walsh, Seth Walsh & Amanda Walsh. He also has three sisters: Donna (Stanley) Penley, Kathy (Kenny) Berg, Sally Rine and one brother, Norman Pelton, Jr. As well as in-laws, Teresa (Gary) Taylor, Butch (Mitzi) Dodson, Lori (Kim) Dodson, Tom (Rolanda) Dodson; and many special nieces & nephews and close cousin Mike (Kathy) Shoults.

He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Shirley, and step-father Norman Pelton, Sr; his wife Debbie, son Billy, and one granddaughter Melanie Jo Rine.

Jack was known as a jolly, silly man that loved a good joke, especially around the Christmas holiday season and was known to many in the community as “Santa Claus” due to his white beard and love of all things Christmas. You never knew when he was going to have that red suit and jingle bells on and making an appearance. He loved to visit the nursing homes, families with sick loved ones, special events at businesses, and children in the schools, but his favorite was with his own grandchildren and family.

He was a talented man, that loved to “tinker” with cars, tools and gardening. He enjoyed fixing up an old “clunker” and taking it to cruise-in’s. He worked many years in the oil fields & local mines then began work at ITT Higbee/Cooper Standard Automotive where he received his Journeyman Certification and worked as a Tool & Dye Maker until his retirement after more than 30 years. You could always find him outside “working” in his garden and yard or going fishing or just being with his loved ones.

Funeral arrangements will be Monday, December 2, 2019 with viewing from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm with a prayer vigil at 7:30 pm that evening with Deacon Mark Weiner; and Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 10:30 am-11:30 am.
