Gary Lee Jones Sr.

Gary Lee Jones Sr. 76 of Corning passed away Tuesday April 9, 2024, at the Chillicothe V.A. Hospital, Chillicothe.

Gary was born January 14, 1948, in Zanesville a son of the late Albert Joseph and Anna Rose Dunlap Jones Sr.

Gary was a Viet Nam Army Veteran and retired from Superior Fibers in Shawnee; he enjoyed playing basketball, boating, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Patricia “Pat” Meredith Jones; his son Gary (Holli) Lee Jones Jr.; his daughters April (Larry) Gould and Amista (James) Lipp;14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; his brother in laws Jeff Snyder and Jim Meredith; niece Terri, nephews Jeffrey and Brandon.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Brenda Snyder; his grandson Tyler Jones; his great-grandson Brayden Lee Lipp; his infant siblings Bonnie Bell Jones and Albert Jones Jr., his grandparents Ottis and Minnie Dunlap; his father and mother in-law James O. and Emma Jean Meredith

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday April 13, 2024, at the J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Shawnee, with Rev. Dan Hinkle officiating.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Corning, where military graveside honors will be conducted

Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.  

The family would like to give special thanks to the Chillicothe VA for their excellent care of Gary and his family and especially for the pinning and honor service; to the Portsmouth transport; they would also like to give special thanks to Angie Joseph West, Amanda Chaney, Teresa McGrew, Ladawn Hinkle, and Interim Homecare for their years of service and to FairHopE Hospice for the help they provided Gary.
